Are you ready? I sure hope you are! Another school year is upon us! I am so thrilled to get started on our journey to new heights. This is a very pivotal year, the last one in elementary school. I expect this to be a year of significant growth and fruitful gains. I am very excited to be a part of this with you.
It is my hope that this year is fun, exciting, and of course, educational. Our classroom has an open door policy. You are always welcome to visit and experience our learning adventures. Please feel free to come in and bring any questions, comments, or concerns with you at Back to School Night on September 14th.
I can’t wait to see you! Get ready; Tuesday, September 6th will be here before you know it!

Communication Plan
It is my goal to maintain my open door policy in my classroom. That being said, my number one priority is teaching your children. It would be greatly appreciated if you would refrain from interrupting class time to bring things to my attention. You are more than welcome to call or stop by: before school, during lunch, during prep time, or afterschool. I will send the daily schedule home when it is finalized so that you have the exact times I will be available. You may also email me.

Homework and Homework Folders
Homework is assigned nearly every day. There may be days where there is more than one assignment assigned. Math homework will go home daily. Other homework, your child can expect to see is: Weekend Writing, Read At Home assignments, and Everyday Math Study Links. Homework is an essential part of the learning process. Homework is never given out just to give out, or to waste your child’s and your time. Please encourage your child to take the homework seriously and give it their best effort.
Homework folders are an organizational tool used to help your child keep everything together. Your child will be held responsible for filling out their folder with the day’s assignments, taking it home daily, and returning it to school the following day. Please check the folder for notes from me and the school, as well as, to see what your child has been assigned.
In order to help your child do his/her best on the homework given, it is important that they are set up for success at home. How can you do this? Designate a specific time and place for your child to complete their homework. This location should be in a well-lit area, and away from distractions such as the TV or siblings. Students should also have all the necessary supplies at this location. What are the necessary supplies? 1.) pencils, 2.) erasers, 3.) pens, 4.) ruler, 5.) calculator, 6.) paper, 7.) pencil sharpener
Snack
We are going to attempt to have snack again this year. However, if snack time becomes a distraction, like it did last year, snack time will be eliminated. Please bring a snack for your child only. Students should not share snacks with one another, this tends to cause a problem. PLEASE NO BEVERAGES other than water. Only healthy snacks will be allowed. Here is a list of suggested healthy, nutritious snack that your child will be able to eat: cut-up fruit, cheese and crackers, popcorn, nuts, raisins, pretzels, granola bars, raw vegetables, animal crackers, fruit snacks, etc. Please do not send your child with anything that needs a utensil (fork or spoon), or that needs to be prepared. We are allotting a limited amount of time for snack, so we do not have time to hunt down utensils, or prepare the snack.
Class Wish List- these are items that will be useful in our classroom. You don’t have to purchase them, but if you could provide some, it would be appreciated.
